Mercer County  Healthcare Disaster Planning Coalition (MCHDPC) – Tuesday, January 17th, 2017 from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. at Central Services Bldg., Conference Room B195 (Use Sugar St. Entrance)

The Mercer County Healthcare Disater Planning Coalition (MCHDPC) is a voluntary group chaired by the Mercer County-Celina City Health Department (MCCCHD), Mercer County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), and Mercer Health Hospital. Its goal is to maximize healthcare response capabilities and minimize healthcare system interruption during emergencies by planning together to identify and fill gaps. The Coalition is open to all organizations that provide or support health services in Mercer County. Recruitment of members will be ongoing. The Coalition meets semi-annually to engage in planning, completing training and exercises. Radon (CE) Course for Realtors – Tuesday, February 7th, 2017 from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. at Central Services Bldg., Conference Room B195 (Use Sugar St. Entrance)

Realtors…Have you ever wondered if the radon test device has been placed in the right location or if the amount of time for a radon test is sufficient? This course will answer these important questions as well as educate you about why radon testing is important in Ohio, how to get reliable radon test results and the requirements for radon testing according to Ohio rules. 2 FREE Credit Hours will be offered. The course is sponsored by the Indoor Radon Program and taught by Marica Dreiseidel, MS, RS Director of Environmental Health and Union County Health Department. Can’t attend the 2-day ServSafe Manager training? You can take the proctored exam here! The ServSafe on-line course is required to have been completed by students prior to this examination. Grand Lake Health System (JTDMH) Winter Health Fair – Saturday February 25th, 2017 from 8:00-11:00a.m. at the Auglaize Mercer Family YMCA, North Branch

This health fair event travels to surrounding communities, providing a variety of free screenings, tests and educational experiences that encourage people to make positive changes in their health related behaviors. Mercer Healthy Living Expo – Saturday, March 4th, 2017 from 8:00-11:30a.m. at the Galleria in Celina

Mercer Health Hospital will host the annual health fair in the area on Saturday, March 4th from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Galleria in Celina.  Nearly 50 exhibits from local organizations will offer free and discounted health screenings, health information and much more.  Also included in the event is a Blood Drive, Prescriptions Drug Take Back, Jump House, Live Demonstrations and more!

District Advisory Council (DAC) Meeting – Monday, March 20th, 2017 from 7:00-9:00p.m. at the Central Services Bldg., Conference Room B195 (Use Sugar St. Entrance)

District Advisory Council (DAC) Annual Meeting @ 7:00pm. Candidate/Incumbent from The MCCCHD Board who will be appointed by the DAC. Reappoint Licensing Council members. There are a total of 24 District Advisory Council (DAC) allowable votes which include 1 vote each from: 14 Township Trustees + 9 City & Village Mayors + 1 County Commissioner; 13 votes are needed to make quorum.


Weather Spotter Training Course – Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 6:30p.m. at Wright State University Lake Campus, Dicke Hall

Mercer & Auglaize County Offices of Homeland Security & Emergency Management will be hosting a Weather Spotter Course presented by the Wilmington Office of the National Weather Service on: TUESDAY, MARCH 21ST AT 6:30P.M. at Dicke Hall, Wright State University Lake Campus. Registration is not required! This is an excellent training class for anyone to be able to identify threats and give an internal warning. Remember, a trained eye is still the best detection device available to identify tomados.


FREE HIV Testing – Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. and 3:30-5:30p.m. at Foundations Behavioral Health Services (on St Rt 29, Celina)

Allen & Mercer County Health Departments have come together to sponsor FREE walk-in HIV Testing on April 4th from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. and 3:30-5:30p.m. at Foundations Behavioral Health Services located on St Rt 29, Celina. The HIV Testing will be offered quarterly and open to the community.

ServSafe Manager Course (2-days) – Tuesday, April 11th & 18th, 2017 from 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m. at Auglaize County Administration Building (Wapakoneta)

The ServSafe Manager Training program provides food service managers, operators, and owners with accurate, up-to-date information on all aspects of handling food, from receiving and storing to preparing and serving. The principles learned in this course can easily be applied and practices by all food service workers. Manager Training meets ODH Level II Training Requirements. Upon completion of the course and exam, participants receive a Certification of Completion from ServSafe and an Ohio Food Protection Certification from ODH. Both days are required. Exam will be given at the end of the 2nd day. The deadline for registration is 3/27/17, class size is limited! The cost is $150.00 and includes the course book, handouts, lunch & the certification test. Healthy Kids Day – Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 9:00a.m.-1:00p.m. at the Auglaize/Mercer Family YMCA (North Branch)

Healthy Kids Day is a free community event to get kids moving and learning, and families living healthier. This is part of the Y’s national Initiative to improve the health and well-being of families and to help them get a Jump on creating a healthier summer. In addition to our normal festivities this year’s event will include the Super Hero Sprint!

Healthy Kids Day – Saturday, October 21st, 2017 from 10:00a.m.-12:30p.m. at Coldwater High School Auditoria

Mercer Health Hospital, in cooperation with the Coldwater and Celina Kiwanis, will be conducting their 13th annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, October 21st, at the Coldwater High School Auditoria, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. A wide variety of screenings and activities have been planned. Everything offered is free and open to the public. There will be a large number of screenings offered including pre-school readiness, physical development assessments, hearing screenings, general dental screenings, simple visual assessments, education development assessments, and blood pressure checks for children and adults. Skin cancer assessments of face, height/weight checks, and body mass index readings will be offered by Mercer Health Hospital.  In addition to the screenings, many safety displays will offer interactive education for the children.  The Fire Safety Smoke House, a fire truck and an ambulance will all be available for tours. Door prizes will be handed out throughout the entire event. Those wanting more information should call 419-678-5613.
